Early 20th Century Set Of Seven Decorative Etruscan Vases, Greek
This is a magnificent set seven of highly decorative early 20th Century Etruscan vases also known as black-figure pottery painting. Figures and ornaments were painted on the body of the vessel using shapes and colours reminiscent of silhouettes. Delicate contours were incised into the paint before firing, and details could be reinforced and highlighted with opaque colours, usually white and red.
The larger vase is decorated on both sides with Ares the Greek God of war. The other vases are decorated with warriors and dignitaries all around.
The large vases size: H41 cm x Diameter 29 cm
Average size of the other vases: From H18 cm to H26 cm x Diameter 14cm to 22 cm
